I taught my little ones this song because it consolidates both structure and vocabulary at the same time. (Tune: "There are no bananas in the sky").
A. BEFORE LISTENING:
*Have a large piece of brown paper with the following categories displayed on it: OCEAN, SKY, HOUSE, and CLASSROOM;
*Have slips with words for each category displayed randomly on the desk:
OCEAN : A shark, a fish, a dolphin, a boat.
SKY: A bird, a kite, a plane, a cloud.
HOUSE: A kitchen, a bedroom, a bathroom, a yard.
CLASSROOM: A teacher, a book, a student, a desk.
*Tape the paper on the wall and ask students where the slips go among the categories;
*In order to practice THERE TO BE, elicit "there's a bird in the sky" or "there's a dolphin in the ocean", etc...
B. WHILE LISTENING:
1. Play the song, so students can consolidate the structure (An option for this activity is to have pictures of the items described in the song displayed on the floor randomly.While they listen to the song, they touch the items as they hear them);
